Climate chaos
The polar bear (Ursus maritimus) is another new entrant onto the Red List.
The IUCN says the main threat is the reduction in Arctic sea ice, a consequence of climate change. This reduces the bear's ability to find food, and compromises the snow caves where they raise their young.
